Anyone who is surprised by this ending, or his hating on Ian are either people who are not adults n frontal lobes haven’t developed, or people who have never lived a life like this in any form, no not just the gangster life but a life full of struggle and trauma. This ending was obvious from the beginning. TJ and Ian were always endgame. Jo was a sweet guy, but he was never endgame, he was a side character in Ian and TJ life. I have no hate for Jo, and the best outcome was for Ian to leave him and Jo have a normal life. We all saw Jo almost became a murderer, that’s not who Jo is. Jo is a young kid who has his whole future, he needs to go to school and do his art, Ian would just lead him down a dark path as we’ve seen. Sometimes people come into our lives temporarily, Ian is far from innocent or a good guy, but he did have pure feelings for Jo, that’s why he had to cut him loose. Ian and TJ have a history that cuts deep, and it’s not clean and perfect, but what they have was always set in stone. This is a beautiful albeit tragic story. The characters are not cookie cutter images of what these bland overdone stories we see today. These are complex characters with complex issues, trauma, and history. The author did a great job and I hope they aren’t discouraged by some immature fans.
Well, Ian was TJ’s beach for years. And remained same. He was bad for Jo, and I don’t think he lied to him, but he didn’t loved him either. He loved to be f@cked by TJ is all senses, he likes to being lied too, likes how TJ treats him like a backup option, convenient, fail-safe fuck buddy. So yeah, I’m glad Jo is safe from all that criminal life and deceit.
