You have a point, but I think Ash was just upset by the fact that Lyle got hurt by this all because he didn’t tell him about his worries like he promised to. Of course, even if the “friends” were to disappear, in the end, Ash would be the only one who’d truly ease Lyle’s worries, yet he chose to reject Ash’s attempts to get through him, which is totally valid given his fear. But that also means Ash being upset is also valid.
