Look, I get that they’re super wary of these monsters because they’re essentially invaders. But this baby is literally malleable still. They can even brainwash it into being on their side while they try to save the world and stop the destruction worldwide. MC is that bridge. If ML can see that, why not let MC handle the baby as is.
